My life is raised again

My name is Praphon Phimphan. I am from Thailand and I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I would like to write about my life before becoming a member of the LDS church. I was born in Khon Kaen, Thailand and I was raised Buddhist. I had a happy family but course of events changed, my parents got divorced. I now live with my mother. She has since gotten remarried to a man who likes to drink alcohol and it made life at home difficult. I didn't like seeing my mother with a man who always would argue with her while drunk. At that time, I could feel a lack of love at home, but I still tried to always be happy.
When I was 15 years old, I studied at Khon Kaen Vocational College (KVC). I really loved going to college because there were a lot of friends who make me feel good, but I wanted them to accept me as a cool person. At that time I started to smoke, drink, and do all kinds of bad things. I can say that this was the worst time in my life.
Before I graduated college, I stopped smoking and drinking because I wanted to be a good person. I also wanted to know God so I went to a Church which was the LDS church but unfortunately, the gate was locked and I couldn't get into the chapel. I went to a Protestant church near my college on that Sunday instead. I wanted to know more about Christians, their beliefs, and who they are. Even though I chose first to go to this church I didn't feel welcomed, good nor warm during the meeting. When that was done I left and never went back.
The last week at KVC, I met two missionaries at the front of my college as I was leaving to go home. I remember they invited me to go to study English with them at their church. I wasn't interested in learning English. Anyway, I asked them, "Who are you guys?" They answered, "We are missionaries. Do you want to learn about Jesus Christ?" I replied, "Yeah! That would be awesome." I felt like God sent them to teach me at that time. We made an appointment to meet and learn about the Gospel.
March 1, 2014 was my first day at church and guess what.. it was the LDS church that I went to. Anyway, It was amazing! It was a Saturday, and I learned about the Gospel for the fist time in my life. I had never felt this special feeling before. They gave me a copy of the Book of Mormon and committed me to read and pray to know if it is true, and whether Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and told me to pray and ask if Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are real or not. I then started to pray for the first time, while praying nothing came to mind and I didn't pray sincerely. They asked how it went and I told them it was nice so that they would't feel bad. After that lesson I went home and that night before bed I started to pray sincerely. I wanted to know which church is true. I felt so strange but now it was different from before. I felt like someone was listening to me, I felt something special, it was warm, peaceful, and strong in my heart, and I felt that I got answers from God. It was an amazing experience. I know that Heavenly Father is answering me through the Holy Ghost and that all the missionaries taught me is true. I began to believe that this church is true, The Book of Mormon is true, that Joseph Smith is a real prophet of God, and that Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are really there.
"Whatsoever ye ask the Father in my name it shall be given unto you, that is expedient for you;"
March 2, 2014 was a Sunday morning. I got to church at around 8:40 A.M. There were a lot of people who welcomed me warmly. I felt so happy to be there. It was not like the Protestant church I went to. Everything was so different, the people, the feeling, I could say that I was happy to be in this church so much. I learned the Gospel for a full week and I got baptized on March 9, 2014.

"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, I know that if ye shall follow the Son, with full purpose of heart, acting no hypocrisy and no deception before God, but with real intent, repenting of your sins, witnessing unto the Father that ye are willing to take upon you the name of Christ, by baptism—yea, by following your Lord and your Savior down into the water, according to this word, behold, then shall ye receive the Holy Ghost: yea, then cometh the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost; and then can ye speak with the tongue of angels, and shout praises unto the Holy Once of Israel"

KhonKaen Branch
"Now I say unto you that ye must repent, and be born again; for the Spirit saith if ye are not born again ye cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven; therefore come and be baptized unto repentance, that ye may be washed from your sins, that ye may have faith on the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sins of the world, who is mighty to save and to cleanse from all unrighteousness"
I got baptized so fast, however after the baptism I felt so clean. I've never thought that I would have such a beautiful day like that. The Gospel has changed my life so much. I am who I am today because the Savior has done everything for me. And I can't be here without faith.
Faith is what we live by everyday. Faith that we'll wake up tomorrow morning. Faith that the sun will rise. Faith that good things will come our way. If we didn't live by faith, we wouldn't live at all. We believe in things that we can't see but are true. God gave us the choice to come to this earth and live by faith.
"And now as I said concerning faith—faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true"
I live my faith by going to church every Sunday, and keeping all of the Lord's commandments. I'm trying to be a better person day by day. I know that I'm a long way from perfect, I know how long this trip is, and I'd like to make it part of the way before I die and stand before the Lord to be judged.
When I attend to a LDS church on Sunday, It makes me feel like I am back in my happy family.
  • I know that God lives, he is our heavenly Father, and he always love us.
  • I know that his son, Jesus Christ, is our Savior, Redeemer and he loves us.
  • I know that Joseph Smith is a chosen prophet who restored the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth and translated the Book of Mormon by the power of God.
  • I know that the Book of Mormon is true and is another testament of Christ.
  • I know that this church is true, is the Lord's church on earth today. Without the church, I'd be lost. I am grateful for it.
  • I know that President Thomas S. Monson is a living prophet.
"For behold, I am God; and I am a God of miracles; and I will show unto the world that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and I work not among the children of men save it be according to their faith"

I love my Heavenly Father
I love my Savior and I know all that he has done for me.
I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

"The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s; the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit. Were it not so, the Holy Ghost could not dwell in us"

I love these missionaries who have invited me to know about this church.
